ClaimTek Medical Billing Success Stories
Always pressed for time?
Waco, Texas biller does it all
Becky Trevathan doesn't mind working full-time. It's working full-time while trying
to take care of her elderly parents' needs that left her often scrambling.
Trevathan isn't alone. More than one third of today's baby boomer adults care regularly
for their parents while 54 percent say they spend some time doing so. Given many
also have their own children, it's a schedule sandwich not easy to digest.
Trevathan found a way to make it all work. She handles billing for four clients
in Waco, Texas with her Medical Billing Associates while also keeping her part-time
job as a nurse. The schedule is no longer a problem despite 50 hours weekly overall,
though.
"If I need to work at night, I do," she said. "If I need to work in the day, I do.
I'm getting older and I needed more flexibility to my schedule."
Electronic medical billing has been the savior for many time-crunched adults. Many
are parents who want to work around their children's schedule. Some move to part-time
that allows more quality of life. It works for everyone seeking to escape the 9
to 5 grind.
Trevathan was fortunate to have 25 years experience in medical billing that included
10 years as an office manager. She picked up a surgeon, urologist, chiropractor
and counselor as clients despite living in a town of slightly more than 100,000
people. In fact, Trevathan believes living in a small town can be an edge over major
cities despite fewer medical practices.
"It's easier in a smaller town because multi-practice physician will pay for that
biller and software," she said. "It's the smaller physicians who can't afford to
keep up with the upgrades and a biller."
Trevathan found MedOffice software with ClaimTek Systems while searching for an
updated program over the one she was using.
"Medoffice offered everything at a much more reasonable price," Trevathan said.
Becoming her own boss wasn't difficult, she said. Just invest in yourself and budget
accordingly.
"It was easier for me because I've always been paid monthly. I do the billing for
the end of the month for the physicians and they write me a check so it's not a
big difference for me," she said. "You do have to depend on yourself. I'm a workaholic."
Trevathan's next challenge is expanding beyond her one assistant.
"I wouldn't mind getting more clients and making it a bigger business, add staff,"
she said. "I can't take on any more myself, but I can continue to grow and hire
staff."
